A
brief history of the entrance of coronavirus into Nigeria
The severe acute
respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARs-CoV-2) was identified in Wuhan, China
early December, 2019, however The novel coronavirus was reported in Nigeria on
February 27, 2020 when an Italian citizen visiting Lagos, Nigeria tested
positive for the virus.
On the day of the
announcement of the first covid-19 case in Nigeria the public accused Government
of keying into or have devised a scheme to loot public fund as usual. The
announced covid-19 case made a lot of ripples across all social media pools,
still unfortunately the public do not still see the fact that the coronavirus
is with us now in Adamawa State and unless we take conscious steps to control
its spread our land of beauty may be no more than an empty ruin from the
deleterious impact of the virus as seen in the United States of America, Spain,
Italy and the host of other countries.

Our
world at war
We are at an
unconventional war, as primitive pathogenic parasitic biological organisms
unable to live outside a host even though primitive have devised a sustainable
game plan to ensure their reproduction and survival at the expense of humans.
The covid-19 warfare is
simple, it is not bound by alliance, imperialism, militarism and nationalism as
was in the First World War in 1914, nor is it bound by a political takeover
narrative of the Second World War in 1933 yet the coronavirus has caused grieve
in the heart of billions cutting the four edges of the world.
The toll of the
coronavirus is has caused fatigue and
struck fear in the heart of the best of us forcing silence in the busy
streets of Shibuya Tokyo to the busy streets of Regent- London to the busy
streets of Lagos to the busy streets of Galadima way Jimeta-Yola.

The
change we need
Bryant H. McGill wrote, Knowledge is
that possession that no misfortune can destroy, no authority can revoke, and no
enemy can control. This makes knowledge the greatest of all freedoms.
The battle against the
novel coronavirus has been fierce, brave men and women of Public Health
Agencies, including Medical doctors, nurses, midwives, human and animal health
technologists and the brave men and women of the press have been infected and
others have lost their lives in this battle. Until the wealth of knowledge
gathered so far about the coronavirus which is conscious arm against the virus
is put into conscious use, then and only then can our race survive and prevail
beyond this times.
The will of man will
prevail now just as it has in the past and the unbroken spirits of Nigerians
will thrive victorious now as in subsequent disease outbreaks of the likes of
HIV, Tuberculosis, Polio Meningitis, SARs and the most recent Ebola virus
amongst others viruses.
The most crucial rule
guiding the prevention of the spread of coronavirus is the need for the change
in hygiene practice of Nigerians, which includes; washing hands properly with
soap under running water and or the use of hand sterilizer where affordable,
applying social distancing-avoiding social gatherings, disinfecting of surfaces
exposed to public use and since conscious knowledge is power, share this
content with one other person.
There are helplines available
to the public from Nigerian Commission for Disease Control on diverse social
media platforms as well as the Adamawa State Covid-19 Containment Committee
Situation Room helplines.
Let us take
responsibility and protect Adamawa, Nigeria.
lets protect the world.
